What is Paid Compassionate Leave?

Compassionate leave is an employment entitlement that allows full-time and part-time employees to take 2 days of paid leave each time a member of the employee's immediate family, or a member of the employee's household, contracts, develops or sustains a personal illness or injury that poses a serious threat to his/her life; or dies.

Prior to the Fair Work laws, this type of leave may also have been known as 'bereavement leave'.
