What is a Casual Employee?
Depending on the definition in the relevant Modern Award that applies, generally a casual employee is an employee that works varying hours each week on an irregular and non-systematic basis.
Generally:
- a regular casual employee is a casual employee that works regular hours on a systematic basis; and
- an irregular casual employee is a casual employee that works irregular hours on an occasional and non-systematic basis.
Given that casual employees are generally paid an additional casual loading for each hour worked, they are not entitled to paid annual leave or personal carer's leave. View ALL articles in this Category |
